Ulrich is an executive coach, mentor, and seasoned former CTO with a remarkable combination of shop-floor craft and boardroom strategy. His career has crossed every level of industrial leadership — from welding apprenticeship to doctorate, from greenfield start-up to global board — and he brings that full-stack perspective to every client engagement.
He trained originally as a welder, then went on to study process engineering with a doctoral degree from RWTH Aachen. After leading international R&D projects, he served as CEO of a greenfield start-up in Alabama, USA, and later as CTO and board member of ThyssenKrupp Stainless and Outokumpu. Today he chairs or sits on advisory boards of mid-sized industrial companies and works as an entrepreneur in his own right.
Ulrich is a Co-Active Coach trained at the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and a certified MentorCoach. Being a former client he has been connected to the Munich Leadership Group since 2008. Based on his extensive practical knowledge and experience, he supports senior leaders through transitions, transformations, and the difficult turning points where strategy meets people.
He coaches in German and English, focusing on leadership transitions, intercultural collaboration, change processes, start-up and restructuring situations, and the team dynamics that decide the speed of transformation.
