Prof. John Barr is a consultant and facilitator whose work focuses on leadership, strategy development and change management. His experience with senior management teams spans many years and a wide range of topics, including strategic planning, process management and implementation of worldwide quality systems.
Before joining Munich Leadership Group, John held a number of management positions at Xerox Corp. in Rochester, New York. His last position was Senior Managing Partner, Xerox Quality Services, where he led a team of professional in-house consultants. Over the past several years, he has advised companies in a variety of industries with a focus on production, training, healthcare and service. His portfolio of global clients includes Xerox, Honeywell, PECO Energy, the UK National Health Service, GE Medical, Merrill Lynch Credit Corporation, Carnegie Mellon University and many others.
John’s areas of expertise include systems thinking, qualitative and quantitative situational analysis, development and implementation of quality improvement systems, benchmarking, change management and development of learning organizations. John attaches great importance to making a measurable contribution to all of his projects. To him, this means increasing productivity through the activities he initiates and supervises.
During his time at Xerox, John was in charge of the “Leadership Through Quality” initiative. The activities in which he and his team were involved, including coaching key players and high-performance teams, contributed significantly to Xerox winning the Malcolm Baldridge Award in the US.
From 1996 to 1999, John also played a decisive role in Munich Leadership Group activities for Vaillant’s Excellence Initiative. His groundbreaking quality improvement and quality management methods helped the company win the Ludwig Erhard Prize, one of Germany’s most prestigious business awards. His work also helped the company reach the European Quality Award finals in 1999.
Prof. John Barr works as a consultant and facilitator in English-speaking countries. His clients include AMP, City of Rochester, PECO Energy, Sika, Titan America, Unity Health System and Yazaki NA. He has been a Partner at SHS since 1996. Since 2008: Senior executive at Munich Leadership Group. He lives in Rochester, New York for most of the year.
